TAB FITNESS. You're always welcome!
Yeah, it's cold outside. But let's keep those good intentions we had at the beginning of the year alive! So, what can be done to maintain your motivation and keep personal goals on track? On those sunny days in February get out and start moving. Ski, skate, go tobogganing with the kids. The key to fighting the February blahs is tapping into that child-like spirit deep inside. Let's get your mojo flowing by stimulating your body to MOVE.

At TAB, we stress the key to a good fitness program is fun. Good vibes will keep you happy, and provide consistency. Plus, the Tabbies around you will definitely feed you the motivation you need to continue. I personally know what it is like to feel the February blahs, so I hope to keep encouraging all of you to stay on track.

AB REHAB
TAB's AB REHAB, is what ballet is to dance: it's sets the foundation for everything else. It reinforces proper alignment and helps your body move more affectively.

What you learn in Ab Rehab makes all other TAB classes more effective. Knowing where you feel an exercise working is an important gauge of your own personal improvement. Being able to focus and feel the muscle is key to reminding your body how to move. Balance, power, and strength are out of reach without understanding how to manipulate your centre or core.

So, what is 'the core'?
We hear this word being tossed around repeatedly. We're talking about more than just your abdominal wall. This is your powerhouse, the midsection of the body. It includes the abdominal wall, but also the back, hamstrings, quads and glutes. So much strength and power can come from this area. Attach breath, and go even further!

Ab Rehab covers all of these areas but focuses on the abdominal wall. Not just the beauty of the rectus abdominus (six pack), but also the deeper muscles— transverse abdominus, lower abdominals, obliques and pelvic floor.

The deeper muscles are the hardest to 'wake up' without turning on surrounding muscles like the hip flexors and glutes. Ab Rehab teaches you how to find these muscles and rediscover the power in your middle.

TAB Fundamentals
We want to introduce a half hour basic fundamentals class to help new and old clients maintain proper alignment during exercise.

If you're new, this will explain what your body should 'feel' while performing movements. If you're a veteran, it will focus on improving your results in other classes. Fundamentals will cover ball technique, trampoline, abs, strength conditioning and more.

Keep an eye open for these mini classes to help you feel more comfortable during your class.

January definitely brought new and old back to TAB, and it is so great to see and feel the energy of everyone in the room.

In order to avoid disappointment, send us a quick text or email to indicate that you will be coming to class. If we receive more requests than we can handle, we will post a CLASS FULL note on our schedule and on our Facebook page before 6:00pm.

Balance Break

A Healthy Recipe by Judith Kaufman

Go Judith!
Quinoa, Chickpea, Cucumber and Feta Salad

1 cup quinoa (beige or red or black)
1 cup water
1 can chickpeas, rinsed, drained
1.5 chopped unpeeled cucumbers
1 pint cherry, halved
1 cup roughly chopped flat-leaf parsley
1 cup sliced baby spinach leaves
1.5 cups crumbled feta cheese (light)
.25 cup balsamic vinegar
1/3 cup olive
  salt and pepper to taste
  avocado

DIRECTIONS

Step 1: Bring quinoa and water to a boil in a saucepan. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, simmer until tender, about 10-15 minutes.

Tip: Do not overcook. Chill in the refrigerator to cool.

Step 2: In a large bowl, combine chickpeas, tomatoes, cucumber, parsley, spinach and about half of the feta.

Step 3: Gently toss in the cooled quinoa; do not overmix or stir.

Step 4: Which or shake in a jar vinegar, salt. and pepper Gradually whisk in oil. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Step 5: Drizzle over the combined salad ingredients; toss gently. Add vinaigrette; avoid overdressing.

Step 6: Serve with diced avocado on top of each serving. Would also be good with diced grilled chicken.
