TAB FITNESS. You're always welcome!
Summer is straight ahead! After a very long winter this extra dose of vitamin D feels amazing. Finally outdoor activities are in full swing and so are you.

As you prepare your cottage and look into camps for your kids, time that used to go to you is thoroughly occupied by the hustle and bustle of everyone else's schedule. Always remember, without the slice of time set aside for you, you may be no good for anyone else. As difficult as it may be, to take that one hour. You'll be glad you did.

It's not easy to encourage women to try muscular conditioning classes that involving weight training.

It's nothing more than a myth that weight training will leave us with a masculine appearance. In fact, for women, it is essential for combatting weight gain as we age.

Women lose 30% of lean muscle tissue after the age of 45 and 5 lbs of muscle every decade thereafter!

If you are in your 20s or 30s you ought to know that lean muscle tissue helps regulate your metabolism.

As we age, things slow down. You can gain up to 35 lbs between 30 and 60. Add menopause to that and you have a whole new body-- one you didn't ask for. So work to
improve the health of your muscles and it's less likely to bite you later.

Strength! was developed at TAB for these very reasons. The weight training in this class is designed to challenge your muscles so they stay strong and active. It works all muscles, from top to bottom, challenging balance and endurance. Strength! utilizes dumbbells, stability balls, tubing and one's own body weight. This fun class does test tenacity but it also grants a satisfying feeling of accomplishment at the end.

If you want to really get it done, come to STRENGTH!

Raw Pad Thai Recipe

Makes 4 servings

1 medium zucchini
1 large carrot
1 green onion, chopped
1/2 cup shredded purple cabbage
1/2 cup cauliflower florets
1/2 cup mung bean sprouts or radish sprouts (spicy)

2 tbsp tahini
2 tbsp almond butter
1 tbsp lime or lemon juice
2 tbsp tamari (wheat free)
1 tbsp raw honey
1/4 tsp garlic, minced
1/2 tsp gingerroot, grated
1 Tbsp. maple syrup (for sugar-free diets, use a pinch of stevia)
3 Tbsp. coconut oil or ghee, melted
1.5 cups water

Use a spiralizer (or mandolin, or vegetable peeler) to create noodles from the carrots and zucchini. Place them in a large mixing bowl and top with the vegetables.
Whisk sauce ingredients in a bowl. The sauce will be thick, but will thin out after it's mixed with the vegetables.
Pour the sauce over the noodles and vegetables and toss. This dish tastes even better the next day once the flavours have had a chance to blend.
